GSPA Graduate Assistantship
In the fall of 2023, I began my role as a Graduate Assistant in the office of Scholastic Outreach in Grady. Specifically, I oversee the Georgia Scholastic Press Association (GSPA). My responsibilities include the creative design of web, social media, and print graphics. I work to ensure that all designs are visually cohesive and represent the UGA brand. I manage the organization's social media accounts, frequently update GSPA's website by authoring news posts and collaborate closely with the director to develop marketing strategies. I help plan and promote GSPA conferences and workshops, ensuring that these events are not only well-executed but also effectively communicated. Lastly, I serve as a mediator to the GSPA high school representatives and am the co-editor of the GSPA e-newsletter.
Projects
In the fall of 2023, I had the opportunity to help plan and execute the Georgia Scholastic Press Association Fall Conference. The GSPA Fall Conference is an event that hosts a range of presenters, vendors and sessions to educate high school students on topics in the Journalism and Mass Communications field. The 2023 conference held more than 40 sessions and more than 800 students and teachers from across Georgia attended. Linked below is an article I wrote summarizing the conference!

At the beginning of the semester, I created an informative letter to mail and email all GSPA members. The purpose of this letter was to provide all membership, event and competition information in one visually appealing flyer for high school teachers to hang in their journalism classrooms. Below is a zip link to view the letter!

As a graduate assistant in the office of scholastic outreach, I also assisted Grady's Diversity Committee. In the fall of 2023, I created a resource document for Grady's graduate and undergraduate students. Linked below is the zip document project!

This is a brief story I wrote on the GSPA website about the Student Press Law Center Press Freedom Day in February 2024.

Each year, GSPA selects a Fall Conference theme from ideas pitched by high school representatives. This year, I selected the theme of 'Momentum'. The idea was; "as journalists, we’re constantly moving: toward the next story, toward new mediums, toward new horizons. For all this, we need ‘Momentum’ to keep us moving forward." Based on this theme, I helped design and bring an informative program for the event to life. The process involved collaboration with the key themes, speakers, and sponsors. The program was distributed for attendees at the conference and is also on the GSPA website. Click the button below to view the 2023 Fall Conference program!

In the office of Scholastic Outreach, we host events, tours and field trips for high school, middle school and elementary school students interested in Journalism and Mass Communications. In the fall of 2023, we held a field trip for a local 5th grade class. Linked below is an educational advertising activity I created and orchestrated with the students during the event!
